Age Categories for Fares
Category Age Fares and Charges
Adults Persons aged 12 or older (junior high school students or older) Fares for adults will be applied. Elementary school children aged 12 fall into the category of children.
Children Children aged six to eleven (elementary school children) Fares and charges for children (Those aged six who are not yet elementary school students fall into the category of toddlers)
Children's fares are half of adults' fares and all figures less than ten yen are rounded up to ten yen.
Toddlers Toddlers aged one to five
Free of charge. However, children's fares are applied in the following cases:
  • When you wish to use a seat on a limited express train only for a toddler or an infant
  • When a toddler is traveling alone
  • When an adult or a child accompanies toddlers, a children's fare is applied to the third toddler (free of charge up to two toddlers)
  • When toddlers are traveling in a group or accompany a group

Regular Ticket
Where to buy a ticket Regular tickets, which are valid for use from the station where you bought them, can be purchased from self-service ticket machines at any station. However, if you buy a regular ticket together with a limited express ticket, you can buy a regular ticket valid for use from another station.
When to buy a ticket Generally, regular tickets are valid from the day of purchase. However, if you buy a regular ticket with a limited express ticket, you can buy a regular ticket, which is valid from the day of boarding, one month in advance.
Fares
Valid Period Regular tickets are valid only for the day of purchase up to the last train. (Round-trip tickets are valid for two days including the day of purchase.)
Changes to Tickets
(prior to departure)
A valid unused ticket can be changed only once to a ticket of same type at no charge.
Fare Adjustment The difference between the fare or charge you have already paid and the fare or charge after a change is made must be paid.
Stopover A stopover means to get off the train and exit the station located on the route to your destination designated on your ticket. Please note that once you make a stopover and exit the station, the remaining section of the route becomes invalid.

A refund is made only if the ticket has not been used and is within the valid period.

When you lost a ticket

If you lost a ticket, you need to purchase the same ticket once again. Please ask for a certificate of double payment at the station so that you can claim a refund with the certificate when the lost ticket is found. In such cases, we will give a refund after deducing the predetermined amount of a handling fee.

Coupon tickets
Where to purchase Coupon tickets can be purchased from touch-screen ticket machines or from an attendant at a ticket wicket.
Types of Coupon Tickets
Regular coupon tickets (for adults and children)
This is a set of 11 tickets for the price of 10, which can be used anytime.
Daytime coupon tickets (available only for adults)
This is a set of 12 tickets for the price of 10.
Weekend and holiday coupon tickets (available only for adults)
This is a set of 14 tickets for the price of 10.
They can be used anytime on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and during the period from December 30 to January 3.
Sales Date All coupon tickets are sold throughout the year. They are valid for use from the day of purchase
Valid Period All coupon tickets are valid for three months from the day of purchase.
Fare Adjustment If you took the train beyond your destination designated on your ticket, the regular fare for the extra blocks will be charged.
Refund Policy
Before use
A refund is made only if the ticket has not been used and is within the valid period.
After use
A refund is made only if the valid period of the ticket has not expired.
Handling Fee

<Refund on coupon tickets>
(Purchase amount) - (One-way regular fare for the section × No. of tickets used) - (Handling fee of 210yen) = Amount of refund
Example: When three coupon tickets for the section of Ikebukuro to
Tokorozawa were used:
3,300yen - (330yen × 3) - 210yen = 2,100yen

When to purchase advance tickets
  • Advance tickets go on sale one month prior to the day of use.
  • Group reservations are accepted during the period from one month and seven days prior to the day of use to 20 days prior to the day of use. These tickets can be collected during the period from one month to eight days prior to the day of use. (Please note that if tickets are not collected eight days prior to the day of use, the reservations will be automatically cancelled.)
Refund Policy

Tickets can be refunded if they have not been used and it is before the departure time designated on the ticket.

Platform Ticket
You need to buy a platform ticket to enter the platform for purposes other than boarding a train. However, you are not allowed to enter the train. A platform ticket is 140yen for an adult and 70yen for a child.
